Facebook and Myspace questions?

I'm considering getting a myspace and/or facebook, and I have a few questions.

First question: are myspace and facebook really DANGEROUS? Or is it just kids who have had lack of common sense about internet safety that cause the problems? Which is more dangerous? Myspace or Facebook?

Second question: Which is a better all around site?

Third question: If I view someone's profile

(or friends comments) (example: my ex-friend that I'm spying on) on myspace or facebook, can they see I've visited their profile? Are those myspace and facebook trackers real or not?

Also, what is the "poke them" option on facebook?

If I log into facebook can I view someone's profile? Is it similar to myspace?

I know myspace has a setting where you can keep your profile private, but does facebook? Or can anyone who's logged in look at your profile?

Is lying about your age (i.e saying like 108 years old) a good safety idea or not?

Any safety tips and opinions please!

Facebook and Myspace questions?

If you don't have both already, I suggest Facebook. Neither of them are dangerous if you're a smart user (make your profile private, don't post EVERY little detail about your life), but Facebook is better because spammers can't get to it as easily as MySpace. It also has great features and it's really organized. If you don't know html code, it's easy to figure out. (To really do anything on MySpace, you should learn html code to add cool stuff to your profile).

Nope, there aren't any real trackers on MySpace or Facebook. As long as you're just looking at their profile and don't click links, you're fine. All the trackers out there are fake. I don't really think you should be spying on people but yeah, you're safe lol

To "Poke" someone on Facebook is the lazy person's way of saying hi without having to write them a real message. Instead of sending someone a message, just Poke them and it's like "hi, I'm thinking about you (not in a creepy stalker way) but I don't want to write you a message so I'm poking you instead."

When you log into Facebook, you can only view the profiles of your friends and those in your network (if you go to the same school or live in the same city.) It also depends if those people have set their profile to "Friends Only," in which case you need to be friends first before viewing their profile. Facebook isn't like MySpace in that way. You have to be a member of Facebook to look at profiles while you don't even hafta log into MySpace to view profiles.

Don't lie about your age. Just be real. Maybe on MySpace you could lie about your age 'cuz there are totally random people on there but dont' do it on Facebook. They have crazy restrictions and you won't be able to change it back. I dunno, it's difficult. But if you're under 13, it won't allow you to get a Facebook. Just wait.

Myspace is more user friendly in my opinion. But never give too much information on either site. On myspace make your profile private so only people you want can see it.

Facebook and Myspace questions?

They're not dangerous if you use common sense.

I like Facebook better, but it just depends on your preferences.

The trackers only work if both parties have them.

Who's profile you can see depends on their privacy levels. Some people have friends only profiles. This is true on both sites.

I don't see how lying about your age would protect you, especially if you put a photo up.

First of all CALM DOWN! Second of all just try it and see for yourself

Facebook and Myspace questions?

okay this is what advice i can offer, myspace can actually get you more viruses and can get you spyware malware and all that jazz. facebook is if your into safety cause you dont really get all that jazz. no they arent really dangerous its just kids who dont have common sense or just too stupid to know what their doing. no on facebook you cant see who looked at your profile but on myspace they offer trackers that allow you to see whos looking at your myspace. facebook you can limit your profile so only your friends can see your stuff. oh if you get a myspace and a friend sends you a video that looks fishy, dont open it, its a virus or it opens your computer to the world. 2 myspace uses alot of html, so that is like how people can screw up their myspace and stuff, like me, i have both but only use facebook cause someone put a something on my myspace and now if i were to go to it, it would try to download a virus...so yeah

Niether are dangerous. I think facebook is LESS dangerous. Facebook is an easier site in my opinion, like easier to create an account and more fun, there's lots of fun applications to check out. On facebook, someone can only view your profile if u tell the account they can, as in u can change ur settings to only allow your friends 2 see your it.

I think facebook is better personally.

Facebook and Myspace questions?

I have accounts on both Facebook and Myspace. Personally I rarely ever use Facebook, due to the fact I am out to meet new people from around the world and Facebook is rather limited in that fact, can only add if you "know" the person. Myspace is ok, but recently found Yuwie (http://r.yuwie.com/americanann) which is where I hang out now. In my personal opinion people seem to be friendlier there compared to Myspace. Have meet a lot of nice people in a matter of a few days, and seems to be pretty safe. Like other people have said, a person just has to have some common sense when dealing with others online.
